Mr. HUN Monivann

Chairman of the Board of Directors

Mega Leasing Plc. continues to demonstrate remarkable resilience and growth, despite a context of uncertainty and regional economic pressures. The institution remains dedicated to providing quality financial leasing services while strengthening its capital buffer, enhancing operational efficiency, and implementing compliance measures in accordance with the regulations of the National Bank of Cambodia to ensure sustainable growth.

In 2025, the global economy remained highly uncertainty driven by geopolitical tensions, trade wars, shifts in monetary policy, technological transformations, and various external challenges. These included the prolonged Russo-Ukrainian War, conflicts in the Middle East, high interest rates in international markets, U.S. retaliatory tariffs, and geo-economic fragmentation. According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the global economic growth was projected to remain at 3.2% in 2025. Within this outlook, advanced economies were expected to grow by 1.6%, emerging and developing economies by 4.2%, and the ASEAN-5 economies (Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand) to moderate to 4.3%.

The Cambodian economy was projected to achieve robust growth at a rate of 5% in 2025 compared to 6% in 2024, supported primarily by strong growth in the manufacturing sector. However, this rate was lower than expected due to a decline in tourist arrivals, the impact on Cambodia's exports to the United States caused by U.S. retaliatory tariff policies, and the prolonged Cambodia-Thailand border dispute.

At the same time, the agricultural sector continued to perform well, with increases in the production of paddy rice, rubber, cashews, and fisheries. Meanwhile, the construction and real estate sectors experienced minimal growth due to a decline in demand coupled with past oversupply.

Regarding the external sector, Cambodia's balance of payments was estimated to record a surplus of 881.3 million USD, greater than the previous year, while international reserves rose to 27.5 billion USD, equivalent to 8 months of prospective imports of goods and services. This reflects Cambodia's macroeconomic stability and the resilience of its financial sector.

The banking system in Cambodia  remained resilient, as reflected in capital adequacy and liquidity ratios remaining above the minimum prudential requirements set by the National Bank of Cambodia. Profitability showed improvement with increases in Return on Assets (ROA) ratio and the Return on Equity (ROE) ratio. At the same time, the Cambodian banking sector continues to play a significant role in supporting domestic economic activities. Specifically, total assets in the banking system grew by 8.2%, within which customer credit (loans) grew by 5.4%, while customer deposits grew by 12.4% and shareholders' equity grew by 12.2% compared to 2024, reflecting sustained public and investor confidence in Cambodia's banking system. The non-performing loan (NPL) ratio rose to 8.6%. However, the net NPL ratio remained at 2.4%, while the provisioning coverage ratio stood at 71.2%, indicating the banking system's capacity to absorb credit risks. In addition, the financial leasing institutions maintained capital resilience and profit growth, as well as continuing to strictly adhere to the laws, prudential regulations, circulars, and various measures set forth by the National Bank of Cambodia, according to the 2025 Annual Report of the National Bank of Cambodia.

Mega Leasing Plc. has actively continued to implement its strategic plan to provide quality financial leasing services that meet the needs of its customers and the public, in alignment with the institution’s vision, mission, and core values. Consequently, the institution achieved positive financial outcomes, generating a net profit of USD 844,307. Beyond taking pride in these positive results, I firmly hope that the Board of Directors, management, and staff at all levels remain committed to maintaining excellent collaboration and delivering outstanding products and services to our customers amidst this context of global economic uncertainty and challenging global conditions, in order to ensure resilience and sustainable growth for all stakeholders.
